This was a wonderful little book that I read in a few days. It is short a simple with a current of optimism that runs throughout. As someone young and idealistic, this book resonated with me, but I also disagreed with some of its oversimplifications. I am coming away from it with a deep reminder of the power of intuition and the purpose that comes from striving for one's dream.

Solid book. It is a good compilation of a bunch of different facets of excellence, but nothing revolutionary. Many of my highlights were things I already knew but which were stated more pithily. It tries to create a complete template for excellence, combing long term consistency, joy, boldness, and community.

I enjoyed this reading significantly more than in high school. It is crazy to me that humans almost 3000 years ago still had many of the same struggles that we have now. I actually read the translator's note in the beginning this time, and it made me appreciate a lot more of the themes throughout. This reading also inspired me to dive into ancient history (which I know very little about). I talk more my experience reading this book here.
